Leandro Valencia Locsin is the architect of CCP "Cultural center of the Philippines", his design uses floating volumes to capture the visual lightness of the characteristics of Philippine architecture. It was founded by Imelda Marcos in 1966. This building was said to have a dominant feature which is the massive block of travertine facade that appears to float.

Last Friday, June 8 2012 we went to CCP to explore the interior of the place. I was so excited and happy because it was the first time that I got to see the inside of CCP. I was curious to find out what I will get to see inside and find out different things about this building. When we went inside the first thing that has catches my attention is the "grand staircase" that has a spiral like shape. As we began to go upstairs, I felt dizzy and tired because of how long the staircase is, it was big and wide. As we reached the end of the stairs, the first thing that I saw was the 3 large chandeliers. It was big and beautiful. As we began to explore the place, I realized that CCP was a really spacious place, it was huge. We were lucky because we got a chance to see the theatre room. When we went inside I could say that the stage is big and wide, I also realized that the upper chairs in the theater has no support, I began to wonder on how it could stay up like that, It amazes me as I continue to look at it.

We also got a chance to go to the upper level of the theatre, We were lucky enough because the door that leads to the upper level is open so we entered there, the first thing that we saw is this wooden doors that has numbers in it, and when we entered we saw the whole theatre from in a higher place. It was so cool; I was amazed and scared at the same time because it felt like it will fall if I stepped on it because there was no support on the bottom. In the other floors, there were art exhibits and also a library. I began to realize that the textures of some of the materials used in CCP are rough and every floor as its own uniqueness. Some of the materials are wood, concrete and cement. The exterior of the place is quite eye catching because of the huge ramp and a façade that appears to float.

When I was inside of CCP, I felt overwhelmed because of how big it is, I was quite impressed on how Leandro Locsin designed this place. He also considered the wheel-chair bound users because there were ramps beside the stairs, there were also many chairs in the inside and outside of the place for people to sit on. I could say that in the overall of the place, the architect made a well thought of design that is both functional, aesthetically beautiful, eye catching and can sustain the needs of the people using it.
